Allegedly, the Bury owner has had over forty of his fifty past businesses go into liquidation, if this is the case, then the EFL should hang their heads in shame as the background checks they do are completely inadequate and have failed Bury FC and their fans.
If this is found to be the case, then the people who presided over the checks when he bought the club should be sacked for incompetence, and then the people who set the rules also.

I heard a guy on 5live last night saying that the only check that the EFL do on prospective owners is whether they are currently barred from being a director of a company or under a bankruptcy order. This is because they fear legal problems if they set the bar any higher and start making judgements on someone's suitability.
Unless this changes and the EFL get a bit of courage, many more clubs will go the way of Bury.
