First January 2020 signing confirmed on OS
22 year old Left back Steve Seddon arrives on loan from
Birmingham. He played for AFC Wimbledon last season, but has only had 20 league games under his belt to date. Can only be back to Walkes?

Everyone says David Beckham is not very intelligent. No-one says that Professor Stephen Hawking is a rubbish footballer!

Re: First January 2020 signing confirmed on OS
One of my best mates follows AFC Wimbledon home and away - literally goes to every game. When I texted him yesterday to ask what Steve Seddon was like, this was his exact response:
"He's bl**dy brilliant. I wish we had him back. Fantastic attacking wing back."
Sounds very promising, but let's see how long it takes Jackett to knock that out of him!!!

Walkes appears to be an adequate temporary left back, I don't see any real need to replace him during Brown's injury, I could see Seddon coming in on the left side of midfield perhaps

Walkes seems to have grown in confidence in the last couple of months - perhaps he'll go back to RB with Seddon at LB until Brown and/or Haunstrup have recovered.streetrifle wrote: ↑Fri Jan 03, 2020 10:26 am Walkes appears to be an adequate temporary left back, I don't see any real need to replace him during Brown's injury, I could see Seddon coming in on the left side of midfield perhaps

It's difficult given that we are not an impressive team, but at the same time the season isn't a write-off and we could still get promoted (unlikely as that has seemed after some games). However, IMO, one of the best things we could do is to givew James Bolton the rest of the season at RB. Hopefully, he will work through his issues and get back to his best form for next year.
As for Seddon, for all his solid contributions as an emergency LB, that is not Walkes position and he doesn't add a lot going forward. A good attacking LB would add to Jackett's options, especially if Seddon has a bit of pace.

Would make sense. From what I've heard, Seddon is undoubtedly an upgrade on Brown, and possibly Haunstrup too, and he has a great left foot and decent delivery.Locky_McLockface wrote: ↑Fri Jan 03, 2020 12:56 pm Walkes seems to have grown in confidence in the last couple of months - perhaps he'll go back to RB with Seddon at LB until Brown and/or Haunstrup have recovered.

I do feel a bit sorry for walkes . He gets a bit of stick but he just gets put anywhere . I can't even remember what his real position isLocky_McLockface wrote: ↑Fri Jan 03, 2020 12:56 pmWalkes seems to have grown in confidence in the last couple of months - perhaps he'll go back to RB with Seddon at LB until Brown and/or Haunstrup have recovered.streetrifle wrote: ↑Fri Jan 03, 2020 10:26 am Walkes appears to be an adequate temporary left back, I don't see any real need to replace him during Brown's injury, I could see Seddon coming in on the left side of midfield perhaps

Re: First January 2020 signing confirmed on OS
I think he came to us from Spurs as a CB/DMF; he now seems to be a RB/DMF/LB. It might be a bit rough getting moved around, and then always left out for someone more specialised, but when all is added up Walkes will have had a decent career as a professional footballer at a reasonable level who has played (and won) at Wembley. At the end of each season, he will have had a good number of minutes on the pitch, one way or another.
From a club's POV, especially one with salary limits, there is great value in a player who can cover many positions reasonably competently (some good days, some poor, many average) at a sensible salary, and is a good guy who doesn't complain about his lot (AFAIK). We would have been in a sticky spot without Walkes or someone like him this season.
