Re: General observation re Age
How did most of you gents find this board? I'm guessing most are old 606 crew that moved over when 606 was shut down.

36. Should I keep clear of all the OAPs on here to reduce the risk of spreading infection?

Nearly 60.
To answer Sam's question, ex-606 crew formed the basis of this board, but I seem to remember that there was somewhere else in-between.

Re: General observation re Age
I have just turned 49.
Anyway, you are right, the somewhere-else-in-between was a short-lived thing called My Sports Talk, IIRC.
I've met DJ in real life, and can honestly say he doesn't look anything like 68. I'd have put him at least 5 years older than that.Selsey Bill wrote: ↑Fri Mar 20, 2020 1:31 amIncredible! I honestly had you at about 35, you feisty old git!
No way, 60?Pompey Penguin wrote: ↑Fri Mar 20, 2020 12:10 pm Nearly 60.

Re: General observation re Age
For a very long time in my life I was the youngest in the circles I moved in. These days most people look very young. On this question of age I'm reminded of a tale about age. I was at a meeting back in the 70s when there was a reorganisation of local government. During an interview for the post of Chief Executive of a new Local Authority, 63 year old Henry Aughton, who at the time was a Town Clerk, was asked by a councillor if he shouldn't have thought about voluntary retirement. " Age, Councillor, is a statistical irrelevance." he replied. He got the job and retired two years later having overseen the merger of 8 Local Councils. It works both ways. Some very young people are well fitted for top jobs when it might be thought they need more experience. An old boss of mine said he was never interested in a person's age. Just their ability. I took the same view.
Now come on someone - it would be good to know I'm not the eldest here.

Look on the bright side NF, you are the board's most senior commentator. You may have just won elevated respect and reverence
