Why bother having a policy and strategy when you can have a slogan?

We are too thick to understand anything more than 3 word slogans.

What I would like to hear from the announcement this evening is that we are good to go with mass anti-body testing to find out who has had it and who still needs to be especially alert. I know that there is not yet clear proof that it cannot be contracted twice but it would still be very useful to know. Not just for individuals but also for research.

On the one hand he seemed to say that we are back to business as normal but on the other he was suggesting we stay home if we can. Genuinely glad you are able to do so Mr Nuts. :thumb

So, we go back to work if we can. But the workplace has to be "covid-secure" and we have to maintain social distancing. And we have to avoid public transport to get there, although there will only be 10% of the normal level of this, so crowding likely.

Schools will open for primary children (starting with 4-5 year olds), who could happily miss another month and don't understand social distancing, but not for secondary school pupils who know how to behave and need the education time.

No information on more retail outlets being able to open, apart from the general go to work message. But definitely not pubs, clubs, cafes and restaurants until further notice.

Quarantine for people arriving by air, but no quarantine if you arrive by boat.

We have a new slogan, as expected, but also a completely made up lockdown tier system that has never been mentioned before to allow the PM to say we have gone from tier 4 to tier 3.

The word "shambles" is barely adequate. Overall just enough to allow the press to claim that it is all wonderful tomorrow, but with enough caveats to absolve the government of all liability and dump this on individual employers and ultimately employees.

Free advice for those going back to work. Take photographs of all measures taken to protect you (or not), record all instances where you are required to break any social distancing rules (distances, numbers of people, etc.), question your employer/manager and keep all replies in hardcopy, join your union if you haven't already. It's going to get nasty.

This new "plan?" has Dominic Cummings written all over it. Appease the right-wing press, make it up as you go along, have no real plan for when it does happen, avoid a situation where you may have to answer questions.
