Reading v Pompey

Post by Berkshire Blue »

Behind closed doors friendly - we used 23 players (not all at once hopefully!) and lost 3 - 1. Ollie Hawkins was our scorer.

Just the sort of thing we need to get back up to speed.

The very first post is now available, beautifully reproduced on a pure ceramic commemorative plate, for anyone whose interested only £4.99 ( per month over 20 years.) And here it is.......from "Old Forester".

"Versus Blackburn Rovers: Bob Jackson out! Can't stand much more of his boring tactics. We won't win anything with him in charge. The man's desperate giving that fellow Jimmy Dickinson a debut. The lad's keen but he isn't going far here."

Being the Statto that I am , I'm a bit miffed that we haven't been told who the 23 players used on Sunday were. So I've managed to narrow things down a bit .

We know that Curtis , Pitman and Hackett-Fairchild definitely didn't play . And from post match interviews and photographs we know that Hawkins , Morris , Harness , Harrison , Rew , Stanley , Marquis , Raggett , Burgess , Brown , Bass , Close and Seddon all definitely did play .

Which leaves the other 10 players as being perm any 10 from :- McGilvray , Bolton , Downing , Naylor , McRorie , Evans , Cannon , Williams , Haunstrup , McGeehan , Mnoga , Teggart and Whatmough .

Those of us very sad individuals that keep Pompey spreadsheets would like to know for the sake of completeness.

I really need to get out more !!!!
Everyone says David Beckham is not very intelligent. No-one says that Professor Stephen Hawking is a rubbish footballer!

Actually, I too was a bit bewildered that they hadn't put out a team sheet but then realised it was probably to proetct the identity of the two who have the virus. Apparently the pair don't want go public on their condition. Of course, that only leads to speculation about those it could be.

Any reason why Curtiss wasn't playing? Surely he will be a key ingredient against Oxford

Apparently he has an slight injury. Jackett said if it had been a League match he probably would have played but didn't want to risk him in a friendly. He is expected to be fit for the play-offs.

Thanks for the update, I hoped it would be a simple reason.
