Seriously? That is unbelievable. Are you sure???
It wouldn't surprise me. The government already think they know better than the manufacturer buy saying they'll give some up to 12 weeks apart when Pfizer says it should be within 21 days

I think the point is that this is AGAINST government advice. Nice try to turn this into 'another' political point-scoring issue. You can feel all the anti-government mob just waiting for the first sign of problems with the vaccines, eagerly waiting for mistakes, hoping that it isn't a success. Pathetic really.

"Hoping it isn't a success" ? Strange how you come to that conclusion. Pathetic really.

Yes, yes, very good, touche and all that, however you are clearly making a political statement in your post, hence the retort. The second part of my post was aimed at the general negative narrative stoked by the media that inevitably follows any action the government take, not necessarily you. Glad to clear that up.

(THINKS: if only there was a football match on or something....)

I'd like to think the Vax stands a better chance to be effective if is used according to the manufacturers instruction. They publicly said they didn't advise a 12 week gap and 21 days should be the gap.

Football match? Hmm can't remember them.

Fed up with Covid and fed up with Brexit. I want to talk about 442 v 1324 and whether Hiwula is ready for a start or who we could sign in this transfer window or if Tom Naylor is the catalyst for a successful season and why Ronan Curtis is such an enigma. Can't wait for tomorrow. City are decimated, we are at full strength. I fancy a win. Anyone?

Had the text yesterday afternoon, made an appointment for 2 p.m. today and was in and out in two minutes, then had a compulsory sit down for 15 minutes, but no cup of tea. Its like a military operation stacks of volunteers directing in the car park, marshalling in the hospital to the rooms, taking details, so professional. Got a card to carry now, got a sticker for my coat, explanatory leaflet, now await notification of 2nd jab. Must be doing hundreds today, so impressive. I gather that after two weeks I have up to 70% immunity.
Did it make you feel unwell at all?
I had a flu jab once and felt very under the weather for a few days afterwards.

Interesting. I received a letter from the NHS on Saturday morning reminding me that I can get a free flu jab. I have never had one before, and never caught flu so was wondering whether I should bother? If it is going to make me feel crap I'm not sure I should.

I had my first ever flu jab last Wednesday, I had no ill-effects at all other than a slightly sore arm for a couple of days.

We had a flu epidemic around Christmas 2017. My wife caught it. In the early hours of the morning 27th Dec 2017, she woke me, to tell me that her heart was going mad. I felt her pulse, and yes, it was going crazy. I couldn't count it, it wasn't regular. We phoned 111, and they asked if she could get to hospital within the next hour.

We shoved up to QA (thankfully we live in Cosham, so literally 2 minutes drive), where she collapsed in the triage room. You remember Mr Benn? "As if by magic the shopkeeper appeared" Well, as if by magic, all these doctors and nurses appeared, and she was whisked out on a trolley to resus. She stayed there for the next 15 hours, where her heart trace varied between 210 and 70 bpm.

At about 7am, I left her to move my car from the Ambulances Only bays opposite the entrance (not the ones right outside!) There were already people on trolleys in the corridor.

At about 9am, I went outside to phone family to give them an update. There were people being treated in the ambulances, because there was no room inside.

We overheard conversations about who they could move out of resus, and where to. One doctor was categorical. My wife was not being moved, she was too ill.

Eventually, at around 6pm that afternoon, she was moved to another ward. Not ICU, but next level down, whatever that was called. HDU? Something like that. An hour or so later, her heart rate clicked back to normal. At last, whatever drugs they were filling her with had done the trick. She spent another 36 hours or so in QA, and only fully felt back to normal in mid-February.

On top of the flu, she had pneumonia and sepsis had just started to take hold. We heard later that a teenager in the Highlands had died of flu-induced sepsis, because she lived an hour away from her nearest hospital, and couldn't access treatment in time.

We don't know how close I was to losing her, and in all honesty I don't really want to. But I know that she could very easily have died.

Two morals:-

1) It is not *just the flu* Flu is a killer. Did I read somewhere that flu is a bigger killer than Covid? Don't quote me on that one, but flu is a dangerous illness, whatever.

2) Right now, the NHS is very stretched, far more so than in 2017. We're in lockdown to try to relieve the pressure from the NHS. They don't need the extra stress of flu cases that could have been prevented.

For both of those reasons, don't risk it because you don't want to feel under the weather for a couple of days.

GET THE ****** JAB.

Couldn't agree more with Locky's post, SB. Go get the flu jab. Flu is the biggest killer in the history of mankind and extremely unpleasant even when it doesn't kill you. You often hear people saying I've got the flue but chances are they haven't as the flu lays you low for days.

I used to pay for the flu jab but got it free this year. A slight arm ache if you are unlucky but that is generally as bad as it gets.

Get it SB. You might be very grateful that you did.
