Scotland V Ukraine
Is the emotion of the game overblown by the media or is it real? Does it increase the interest value in an otherwise 'ordinary' game for non partisans?
I like British teams getting to the Finals, especially if it means crying tartan wearers at the Finals. With that said, Wales should be favorites but will they suffer the ignomy of the anti-favorites if there is a Blue / yellow wave for the Ukranians. The US media is plumping for Ukraine....so not seeing a thread, thought I'd put it out there

Re: Scotland V Ukraine
Whenever we play one of the home nations in finals there is usually a hiccup of some sort. The Scots want us to lose every game we play and the Welsh celebrated into the night when Iceland put us out. So on the basis of that I would rather Ukraine got through but I do generally want all home nations teams to do well, it's just that I want England to do better.

One of my favorite World Cup moments ever was the Jocks in Argentina going from "We're on the march with Ally's Army" to "We want our money back"
Anyone but Scotland please. I'd rather see Russia do well.

Watching Zinchenko in tears in the press conference on Tuesday, the emotion of the game is definitely not overblown.uspompeyfan wrote: ↑Wed Jun 01, 2022 7:10 pm Is the emotion of the game overblown by the media or is it real? Wouldn't have had a problem with Scotland winning (or if Wales beat Ukraine at the weekend, as normally I'd want them to qualify) but it's hard to begrudge Ukraine a brief moment of joy at the moment. Thought Zinchenko was excellent tonight too and they thoroughly deserved their win.

With us having given up the Eurovision title for Ukraine and the Scots giving them the World Cup qualifier, I only hope Wales do the decent thing and allow them through to the Finals.

Yes I agree. Wales should be more English about things and let Ukraine win the tie, otherwise it's just not cricket. Mind you I am in Wales at the moment so I need to be careful of what I say. If the Ukraine do get through will all this pro Ukraine feeling prevail when we play them?

I have a chunk of Welsh heritage so I'm mixed on the next one here. May the best team win.
