At the very least disappointing. The Hungarians are not world beaters and I wouldn't think they have any world class players but they wanted to win this one, probably a lot more than England. I think England wanted to win but thought they could just do enough which would be enough. I think we will see a different approach against the Germans though.

Well, with the winter World cup looming and having just finished a very long season, frankly I'm surprised we took any 1st teamers. I'm sure 'Arry Kane et al would rather be on the beach resting up and I can't say I blame them.
btw, Hungary made a mockery of the fan ban. There weren't supposed to be any at that game due to previous poor behavior.

Going back to the 80s, haven't we always struggled in the first International after the end of a season. A long road ends, players get a couple of weeks off then back on again...they looked tired and not up for it, and got what was deserved, nothing.

Maybe, Germany and Italy will be more meaningful, but after all his success, Southgate can have a bad day at the office for a game that didn't mean too much.
