Thats right, the football season is over so its down to grovelling posts.
This one is me asking you to help a friend out and like this page on facebook if its not too much trouble -
http://www.facebook.com/#!/Audiquattrorooms
Basically he started a new job this week at the audi quattro rooms as Venue and Client Relationship Manager however in their infinite wisdom the old person in the job, despite initially organising a "social media" event at the quattro rooms, apparently didnt feel the need for having any social media ahead of the event.
Facebook uses as stats function which he would obviously like to implement on the back of such an event but you need to have over 30 likes before it kicks in so he is now trying to get to that number to see ahead of the which is on Wednesday.
Thanks in advance to anyone that can help out

Is it not an idea to perhaps make this a sticky in the Business Section that we hardly use?
Just a thought but we could all help each other raising business or company profiles. Nothing too dramatic just the odd like or retweet can apparently make enormous difference. I hardly ever use Facebook for company but Twitter has been a revelation to a suspicious me! So now raising Facebook profile too!

Can we sticky it here as well for a while? On the basis that we hardly use the Business Section!NoonahUK wrote:Is it not an idea to perhaps make this a sticky in the Business Section that we hardly use?

Have clicked on all the links and liked.....cos I am like that. Oh, all except Noonah's which takes me to the general facebook page. As to Twitter noonah, there are not enough hours in the day, am on there somewhere or was for about a day or so, too much "omg, this is taking over my life" so do not go there anymore.

I have to admit to being somewhat bemused by the whole social media thing. I had to register with Facebook in order to be able to create and administer a page for the charity (http://www.facebook.com/pages/Smile4Wes ... 9075053259) and we also have a Twitter account (http://twitter.com/#!/smile4wessex) but the numbers 'liking' or 'following' are relatively low (52 & 11 respectively). I guess they only really start to have any major value when those liking/following reaches much greater numbers, but is there really any point in inviting support from people who probably have no real interest in what you have to say? Surely, that just gives a false impression of the real level of interest in what you are promoting.
As for my personal Facebook page, I rarely even look at it, let alone post anything thereon, and I've lost count of the number of people from my dark distant past who I've quietly ignored 'friend requests' from. I didn't want to be friends with them 35 years ago, so why the hell would I want to be friends with them now!
And before anyone says it, I know, I'm being a grumpy old fart again.

Once you're over 30 Likes on Facebook, you can get increased analysis and demographics and stuff. I don't know exactly what, but then I've only get 12 Likes! Plus I believe that the activity on your page is indexed by Google (could be wrong there), so more activity means a higher listing - which in my industry is a good thing. No Shot Sherlock wrote:I have to admit to being somewhat bemused by the whole social media thing. I agree with you on a personal level - I haven't really actively sought out friends from the past, but I have cousins literally all over the world that I can easily keep in touch with.
And I also have a separate profile, which I keep just to keep in touch with the lads in my football team - the twonks ALWAYS post that they've enjoyed someone else's training session, so I am forewarned that they're considering leaving, and I can adjust my plans accordingly.
