Nick Skelton clinching the show-jumping team gold. He was one of my idols when I was still at school, 35 years, a broken neck and a hip replacement later he finally got his gold medal..

Missed all the horsy events, hardly any shown here and blimey, what a fighter. Did see the results of course and chuffed for him.

For me being half way round the world and having to endure lots of Olympic table tennis on tv, the best thing was seeing the nation pull together and put on a magnificent event.

For once I felt proud to be British!
