Hi All,
Hope somebody can help...
I'm doing some work for charity, a new one that's starting up that I think is going to do some great things (and has excellent support).
Anyway, obviously I'm doing it all for nothing. But I'd like to know if I can alleviate any tax relief for this? I can only find gift aid stuff online when searching.
If I can't, I can't. But always best to ask.
Thanks
DD

Ta. I found that but it doesn't really cater for self employed. I don't have a LTD company for this sort of thing, I just declare incomings / outgoings on a self assessment.
I'm hoping I can draw up an invoice for my time, as I normally would, but then write it off. If you see what I mean.
I think I might just have to phone them.

Effectively what you're doing is volunteering for the charity during work time. Therefore, you can continue to pay yourself for that time, and it can be treated in the same way as though you'd been doing profitable work.
The taxman won't give you any extra tax relief.
