Better than Google and my IT dept
who are all unavailable to help me.
On Friday, I spent about 2 hours populating an excel spread sheet which I'd opened directly from an email. I KNOW that I was saving it as I went along - but can't remember where I put it or if I re-named it when I finished with it. And now I can't find the bl**dy thing. The email with the original spreadsheet attached is still there - but no figures.
It's not in my docs and I'm hoping it's in the temporary files bit where things seem to end up but I can't find that either. I work via a terminal server from home, so I have 2 desktops on my laptop if that makes sense. Personal and work. I was on the work one.
Please help this hopeless ninny, some kind clever person. Can't bear the thought of having to start again!

When you open a new file in Excel, is there an option saying Recent Workbooks?

Thanks surk. Yes - I've just looked in there and what's a bit worrying is that there is an old file there with a similar name - but that might be because I opened it this morning looking for the lost one.surk. wrote:When you open a new file in Excel, is there an option saying Recent Workbooks?

Couple o thangs which might work from a techno moron such as myself. of course somewhat dependent on which versions of windoze and excel you might be using
Open an excel sheet, click file and you should see a list of the last 4 or so spreadsheets you have looked at.
OR
Start / search and you can tweak the search parameters to show every file you've modified in the last week
OR
Start / search and use a word that you think might be in the title of the doc.
OR
Open an excell file, make a random adustment, save the file and note where it went and perhaps your file is there
OR
Admit you are a tired old luddite that just can't keep up and announce that you "are just going outside and you may be gone for sometime"
