Attention Formula 1 chaps
Yes, I know there might be 1 or 3 on here.
Anyhoo, what do you make of Rush?
For the uninformed that is a Ron Howard movie about the 1976 season...James Hunt / Lauda.

Not been released yet, next week I think. Looking forward to it though. Looks well cast. The Cincinnati Kid wrote:Yes, I know there might be 1 or 3 on here.

Just seen it and every bit as good as expected. Brilliantly constructed film and really brought back a sense of the era (for those of us who were around then). Slightly disappointed in the race scenes until the finale then WOW. Daniel Bruhl's potrayal of Lauda stole the show for me. Go see.

Can't wait to see the film . Agree Lauda was a more interesting person and he is still involved in F1 .Chopper Dave wrote:Maybe. But Lauda was a much more interesting character.

Nope....we all have a tremendously accurate mental count which we increase by 53% when it comes up in conversation.Ziggy Stardust wrote:Good God! But surely you stop counting once you get into double figures? The Cincinnati Kid wrote:James Hunt was a bit of a playboy....5000 wimin apparantly.

Re: Attention Formula 1 chaps
I don't find that to be the case - Hunt was a very complex character, very colourful, anti-establishment, generous, wild and eccentric. It would pay to examine his exploits outside of the 1976 bubble.Chopper Dave wrote:Maybe. But Lauda was a much more interesting character.

IN F1 Lauda was far more interesting . Out side F1 , Hunt had the play boy image , second Luckiest F1 champ in History EVER ( Keke Rosberg being the luckiest ) only my opinion of course .

would you consider Jenson button a lucky world champion.
I really like mr button, he is very talented driver, and seems a thoroughly nice chap, but you do have to wonder whether had it not been for the diffuser on the BAR he would ever have been world champion.

Good point , but No I would not consider JB lucky , he had the best car by FAR , and that was down to the genius of the design team but he was /. is quick enough to get good performance out of it ..portchesterblue wrote:would you consider Jenson button a lucky world champion.

That goes back to what is more important argument , car or Driver ( IMHO ) .
For the record had the Team not had that defuser he would NOT have been world champion IMHO, but as a TEAM they did .........
My point Ref JH & KR was the fact that in JH situation his main rival nearly Died , Missed several races through injury & STILL came very close to Being WC .
KR's was even luckier !

Re: Attention Formula 1 chaps
it is true that JB was quick enough to get the best from the car, shown by the fact his team mate was lagging behind especially after everyone else had the "advantage" of design.
Like I said i think he is a fabulous driver and has a personality which seems lacking in some other drivers, especially short ones who have huge chips on their shoulders
