Or if Pompey A played Man U / Arsenal / Chelsea B. In the final at Wembley. Would we all turn up ? Probably.
At the glimpse of silverware. Would we be really playing their B team. Probably not.

Yes we would - team selection would be part of the rules of the competition. The Beautiful Game wrote:At the glimpse of silverware. Would we be really playing their B team. Probably not.

Hope so, but will reserve judgement until if or when it happens.PL teams seem to have the way ( power ) to get round things.Lost in Transportation wrote:Yes we would - team selection would be part of the rules of the competition. The Beautiful Game wrote:At the glimpse of silverware. Of course they have. Premier clubs are the establishment figures of the football world.

I've never been fussed about the league cup but I wouldn't want B-teams stinking that competition out either. Sure, in the early rounds there might be a lack of interest but if a club progresses far enough to get a sniff of Wembley then fans definitely start to care. The Cincinnati Kid wrote:Anyhoo......back on topic.
Isn't it funny that when you introduce the idea of Prem B teams playing in a tourney nobody cares about.....suddenly everybody cares.
The league and cup competitions in England should be for 1st teams only and not open to bl**dy reserve sides. Let them have their own tournament. It's also reducing the chances of the smaller sides getting a bit of cup glory and money. Don't Chelsea, City et al already have enough?
