UEFA show bias again

Post by uspompeyfan »

Now frankly I don't care what lifestyle anyone leads - I may not agree with it, but it doesn't affect me or my family, so it doesn't affect me. What I get annoyed about is why should he be rewarded for wearing an armband? he made a point, and that should be that.

England get punished for wearing poppies to commemorate heroes who gave their lives, while this guy gets praised for showing off his lifestyle. there doesn't seem to be consistency.

The rainbow is synonymous with the LGBT (I think they've added extra letters now) lifestyle and they refer to the way they live in that ilk.

Totally agree that there seems to be a double standard there if they endorsed his wearing of a non-kit related armband and yet punished England.....but I can't recall what upset them about England's armband.
As Mickemo says they're all a bunch of cxxts anyway.

Being gay isn't a lifestyle.

I agree .

It could be a pain though .

Hi. I did e-mail earlier, but a question, is there a Pompey Fan Club in Arizona? I'm a Pompey season ticket holder living in Oxfordshire, but half the year I'm a 100 miles north of you in Prescott AZ!

Neither is being killed in a war you were forced to fight in.

Freedom of speech is becoming moribund.

WRT football, just a sponsor's name will do. No need to make statements when playing sport. Just play the f**kin' game.

I couldn't give a flying turd what someone does or doesn't believe in - just stop bleating about it and don't expect me to always sit on my hands if I don't agree.

We're all the poorer for political correctness.

I think the logical stance to take on this should be complaining why were England punished in the first place rather than wanting genuine attempts to promote diversity removed from the game.

Quite right Milkins. This is somewhat similar to the current issue in the NFL re certain players protesting at the national anthem. Doesn't matter what I think of yer issue.....stand for the anthem, play the damn game and go protest on yer own time. The rest of us don't get to engage in political protest / commentary / promotion at work. As for England's poppies....don't agree with the decision but I can live with it if the rule on kit is applied consistently. It's pretty simple.....kit plus sponsor....end of.

I’ve been s reader here for a long long time but rarely post as I am not a regular match tier, indeed with hobbies, family and the fact olive miles away I’m a very rare attendee. As such I don’t feel unable to comment on Pompey related topics. On this particular topic though I can’t help but think talk of bias is a little overstated. The guy wore a rainbow coloured captains armband. I don’t believe there is anything stipulating the colour ofcaotains armbands, sothis us a bit different to the England poppy debate which was about armbands for all players.

The point isn't that he wore it, I don't think anyone cares what color it is....but UEFA giving him an award for wearing it is a bit much.
