Would seem like the best solution all round. Hopefully, Chaplin gets the chance to play, and then we can make a decision on his long-term Portsmouth future at the end of the season.

It's not actually a done deal yet. This is what he says in his article:

Coventry are hoping to resurrect their pursuit of Conor Chaplin through a loan deal. Boss Mark Robins remains keen on the Pompey striker, despite having previously walked away after becoming frustrated with the wait. The Sky Blues are pushing for the move to be completed today ahead of the 5pm deadline. However, with it being a potential loan, any agreement has until the end of the month to be sealed, allowing more time for it to be resolved.

We desperately need a forward before the loan window closes at end of the month. The thought of pitman getting injured and Hawkins leading the line is the stuff of nightmares.

Just started watching Oxford v Coventry. Commentator raving about Chaplin who promptly sets up the first goal after 63 minutes. Seems he’s getting off to a good start.

And he scores from the penalty spot after 82 minutes and leaves the field soon after to take the plaudits.

Didn't stop them losing the first two games he played in and it's easier to look good in a bad side, which both Coventry and Oxford are.

Now I hope he does well but he has a lot to do to convince me he is the assain he is so often made out to be.

I would dispute your "easier to look good in a bad side" contention. In a bad side when you're looking to pass your team mates are often unavailable to receive the ball because they're not making runs, the passes you receive are not accurate or weighted correctly and generally your side doesn't have much good possession so your chances to impress are few and far between.
It's sometimes true that you can stand out in a bad team depending on what type of player you are but Chappers is the sort to thrive on good service and with a bad side you don't get that.
Hope he does well and we get the deal done permanently.
Stop looking for solutions to symptoms and start identifying the disease.
