Pompey H/A stats 2018-19

Post by Pompey Penguin »

Want to know what was wrong (or right) with our season?

More points gained away (45) than at home (43). Best away record in L1, by far, but the worst home record of the top six. Seven draws and four defeats at FP, and to my memory very few of those were "unlucky".

We need a player who can pick apart defences when the opposition's plan is to defend deep, play on the break and take a chance when it comes along.

Home performances have been poor this year, losing to teams already beaten away (Blackpool & Peterborough) never managed to recover from 2 down and generally , even when we win, hard work. Some poor draws too Wycombe , Accrington, shrewsbury and no one mention Gillingham doing the double over us!

We are set up to defend deep and break with speed on the counter attack
You can take the man out of Pompey
But you can`t take Pompey out of the man

Do we also think that the pressure of the home crowd is a bit much for some of the players ?

Always seems to me Kenny has no clear idea which line up will work best against the teams we play. He just takes a punt and then learns as the game plays out. Hence why we so often concede early and have to make changes at half time or early second half. At least he should know by now which team to turn up against Sunderland.
