One last 'bash' for old times' sake

Post by No Shot Sherlock »

After 15 years running the Smile4Rich / Smile4Wessex charity, I'm retiring at the end of June and wondered whether there'd be any interest in having a get together at The Old Ship. Not sure many of the original 12 that kicked it all off still look in on this board (and Swanwick Saint was of course one of that 12), but there were plenty of others who came along at one time or another. Anyway, if any of you do fancy it, or are in touch with any who came along in the past but no longer post here, please spread the word or express your interest below.

Won't be a charity night, just a chance to catch up with some of you before I ride off into the sunset so to speak.

See page 14 of https://www.smile4wessex.org/login/uplo ... chprog.pdf for a pic of 'the 12'. At least Dougie won't have aged!

Spooky - it's only this weekend that I was sorting some things out for the charity shop and took the ellen macarthur book I won at a S4R event .

Congratulations on your retirement NSS, absolutely outstanding work you've done for S4R 😀

Depending on date/time I could be up for a bevvy or 2.

Well, it would be great to catch up with VFTH and Huntski (thanks guys for your responses) but 1hilst 3 may be a crowd in some people's books, it's hardly a 'bash'. Surely there must be more who'd be up for a beer or three?

Sorry only just clocked this properly Sherl. Firstly, congratulations on your retirement, something I've been trying to do for a year or two without much joy. Secondly, I would love to come along, though as you know I am not local so would need plenty of warning. One of my sons is at Uni in Southampton, so I could potentially crash with him one night. Alternatively, could stay off the pop and drive down. Keep us in the loop if there is any traction. I'm sure Widders (and his band of merry men, and ladies  ) would join us.

Whilst it's great that a few have expressed interest in this, I know from past experience how difficult it is to find a date that suits all, so unless there's a significant increase in numbers in the next week I'm going to can this (or leave it to someone else to organise).

Apologies to those of you who expressed interest in meeting up, but with such relatively low numbers (and the difficulty always of finding a date that suits all those who do want to attend), I'm inclined to drop this idea. Maybe another time :thumb
