Symbolic only but...

Post by GreenBlue »

The population are being encouraged to provide mass applause :smt038 for all NHS workers across the country at 8PM tomorrow. If you are safe to do so, open doors and windows and let these unsung heroes know how much we all appreciate them all. I understand that there are many other unsung heroes at the moment but these guys are at the coalface. :smt041

Do we have to follow what the Spanish do? Why can't we come up with our own way of showing appreciation?

Really Dinksy, can't we be positive about something even just for a moment? And so what if we do something other countries have done?

We left the EU for this very reason! I'm going to do a minute's hand-waving. Nothing more British than hand-waving.

Wow, isn't that incredibly narrow-minded? If that is why we left, I am even happier that I voted against leaving but I will say no more because I believe this current issue is far greater than people's political beliefs.

Good enough for our Queen, (gawd bless her and her virus-ridden family) good enough for you, green whippersnapper.
So that's settled. All true patriots wave a hanky out of the letterbox at 8. Not a full minute though as some NHS workers are threatening to walk out. Maybe 56 seconds. To be reviewed depending on their success levels.
And we must have song. We British always have a song to go with our waving.
"They'll be bluebirds over....."
Or maybe more...
"Ha, ha, ha, ha Stayin alive, stayin alive...."

I didn’t. My sister is a nurse in a hospice so I sent her a video clip of us clapping as she was at work.

Nice one Sam B, you must be very proud of her and rightly so. The vast majority of the country really appreciate the work all in the care and health professions are doing and I realise this evening was just a small gesture of appreciation but I hope they all felt the warmth that was being directed to them. It is usually pretty quiet where I am but tonight my neighbourhood raised the roof. :smt038 :smt041

It was an amazing response right across the country and I know it meant a lot to many many care workers. Well done to all those who shared their support, just a shame some people chose to try to belittle the effort instead.

Good sermon, GreenBlue.......whilst avoiding saying if YOU applauded.
We have far too many judgemental clowns around at normal times but in these circumstances, the finger-pointing oafs have really come out of the woodwork. Who isn't following the rules? Who is the one stepping out of line or presenting a different point of view to the crowd?
Try dialling up the sense of humour and dialling down the piety.
