Re: Back in the saddle - 780 miles under lockdown
Pleased to say I made it to Southampton yesterday and almost the end of my 780 mile ride. Bob and Frank still have circa 200 miles to ride but aim to finish at the weekend when we'll come together (virtually) at the Flamme Rouge and ride the last kilometre to the finish line.
Many thanks again to all who've helped us raise (so far) £1,162.75 + gift aids

Re: Back in the saddle - 780 miles under lockdown
Thanks ISF, it's been a real team effort. Frank has had to contend with some rotten weather up in Scotland and both he and Bob also have work commitments. That said, I wasn't sure that I could cover the 390 miles back in the same six days as we did in 2005, and 10 miles into yesterday's ride I was convinced I couldn't do the 80 miles I'd left for the last day but I struggled on. Strange thing was it felt like someone else was helping push the pedals for the final 30 milesitsaintfunny wrote: ↑Wed May 27, 2020 1:46 pm Well done to the three of you and especially to you Neil , a brilliant effort and so pleased its all worked out.

Re: Back in the saddle - 780 miles under lockdown
Thanks Sam, it was hard work. Until last month I'd cycled less than 50 miles in 15 years. 200 miles of 'training' in 10 days and then 780 more in 18 days was always going to hurt but it's a great cause and I guess it's a classic case of no pain, no gain. There may not be any hills to tackle riding a basic turbo trainer but there's no free-wheeling either. Suffice to say, over 54 hours in the saddle leaves an impression!

Well it's a great achievement and you should be proud. I've been posting a bit more since working from home and it's the community spirit I've noticed more than anything and things like this are a perfect example of it.No Shot Sherlock wrote: ↑Sun May 31, 2020 4:45 pmThanks Sam, it was hard work.
