No, just what I've been told from someone who is usually in the know. Jack's partner is about to give birth. Might also explain why Naylor has played at centre back for at least one of the friendlies.

Thanks SB, was just wondering whether it might have been a want away player.
Wishing Jack and his partner all the best and good to see that he puts family before work. I am absolutely with him on that.

I also understand from reliable sources that it's Jack Whatmough.Selsey Bill wrote: ↑Tue Jun 30, 2020 11:39 amNo, just what I've been told from someone who is usually in the know. I hope it isn't held against him by some fans, he has to do what he thinks best for himself and family.

Some fans, especially those with an "Alan Brazil" type mentality, will probably question his commitment and loyalty but the majority will congratulate him on becoming a father (if this is the reason he is staying away) and welcome him back when he feels it is safe for him and his family to return.PakefieldBlue wrote: ↑Tue Jun 30, 2020 1:05 pm I hope it isn't held against him by some fans, he has to do what he thinks best for himself and family.

It may not only be about reducing the risk to his family. I've heard that husbands/partners are only being allowed to visit their other half in some maternity units if they've been self-isolating for 7 days prior to the birth/visit.

He is very lucky to have a job and an employer that allows him to make such choices.

Most employers would, I'm sure, allow somebody this opportunity. Yes in most cases, we would need to take leave but this is the leave period for footballers (usually) and when they planned this, unless he had been called up for England, there was no way anyone could have envisaged him needing to play in July. I would be extremely disappointed with any employer who did not allow him to do so.Pompey1984+1 wrote: ↑Wed Jul 01, 2020 7:39 am He is very lucky to have a job and an employer that allows him to make such choices.

As I understand it employers have to allow this choice and cannot penalise an employee for choosing to be away from the workplace due to concern over Covid 19
