Another incoming?
Shrewsbury announce that Charlie Daniels is leaving, and Solent commentator says that a source has confirmed that he is on his way to Pompey.

Re: Another incoming?
Daniels will do a good holding job for us this season hopefully will help us get the job done. He is not the future that’s for sure so hope it’s only a short term contract

Re: Another incoming?
An experienced Premier League player in the dressing room can only help with the promotion push I'd think - hopefully he could be a positive influence.

Re: Another incoming?
Joe Gallen mentioned signings, plural, leading to a bit of speculation that Marc Pugh is incoming too.

Wouldn't be the first time brinkmanship backfires, and a club ends up with both!jam tomorrow wrote: ↑Wed Jan 20, 2021 12:52 pm No agree they play in the same position you never know though

Re: Another incoming?
I can see a scenario where brinkmanship backfires and a club ends up with neither, but not both! Especially when we have a limited squad size.Weybridge wrote: ↑Wed Jan 20, 2021 3:22 pmWouldn't be the first time brinkmanship backfires, and a club ends up with both!jam tomorrow wrote: ↑Wed Jan 20, 2021 12:52 pm No agree they play in the same position you never know though
I don't see Souttar coming in. I think the club sees the priority as another box-to-box midfielder as competition for Andy Cannon, and that will be where the last remaining squad place will go.
I don't disagree that we need another back-up centre back, but remember that we have Bolton, Naylor & Downing that can play there, in the highly unlikely scenario that we lose 2 or 3 of Jack, Raggs and Nicolaisen. If there is any recruitment for the CB position, it will be a U21 premiership loanee that won't take up a squad space. (That's assuming we won't be able to ship Downing and/or Bolton out, which is looking unlikely).

Re: Another incoming?
We need Naylor in midfield and Bolton plus Downing will certainly dent any hopes of promotion

Re: Another incoming?
Completely agree, but the point is where is the greater priority for that one remaining squad place? IMHO, it's in midfield, not CB. Without the squad cap, it's a different story.jam tomorrow wrote: ↑Wed Jan 20, 2021 6:21 pm We need Naylor in midfield and Bolton plus Downing will certainly dent any hopes of promotion
