RIP Mr Venables

Post by Pompeypete73 »

I don't usually post on here but wanted to pay my respects to a great man.
We all have our feelings with regards to our Pompey, but you cannot deny he was a forward thinking man and passionate about the sport we all love. RIP Terry, thank you

He did have Pompey connections as well, I believe he bought the club for £2 and later selling it to Milan Mandic. If I remember correctly he set about getting the Fratton End rebuilt which was his legacy. He was a brilliant player and he had the reputation of being a brilliant coach. He very nearly got the England team close to honours by employing fast attractive attacking football. At the same time he was always shrouded in controversies with suspected links with criminal fraternity. How much of that is true I would not know but he was a very colourful and charismatic character. He has been away from the public eye for some time but he was always interesting to listen to. He had a go in show business as well in trying his luck as a singer and a stand up comic, but it proved best to stick to footers. To sum him up I would have to say he was a great football man who will be missed in the game.

Milan bought the Club from the Administrators. El Tel sold Bradbury and the £3 million plus paid for the new Fratton End, other than that he brought a pile of useless Aussies to the Club!

However RIP Terry condolences to his Family & Friends
You can take the man out of Pompey

Anyone remember seeing the financial records for Vencorp? Pompey sold Bradbury to City for 3.5m. 350k appears in Vencorp's in column. Pompey then sell Burton to Derby for 1m and 100k goes into Vencorp.

I'm sure they were purely coincidental and no link at all.
