Barnsley Fans Can't Count

As a resident of South Yorkshire I have more interactions with Barnsley fans than most - and of late it has, like in September become more apparent to me that they simply cannot count.

Our game in September was called off when we played them due to international call ups. To get a game called off you need three players to be called up - yet they seem to believe we only had two players called up yet we still managed to get the game called off.

Given that for the up coming fixture in March we are set to lose two players again (as are they) I have received comment that you will just get the game called off again - like we have some sort of sway in this.

In September it was possible we had the following players called up :

Paddy Lane.
Gavin Whyte.
Terry Devlin.
Joe Morrell.
Yushi Yengi.
Regan Poole.

At the time all of these were starters or in the match day squad.

After further research, because this has annoyed me...

Yengi was injured so not called up.
Poole made the Wales squad later in year.

Gavin Whyte (Started at Barnsley) was called up to the Northern Ireland squad, but picked up an injury.

Despite this we still had three international call ups:

Paddy Lane - Northern Ireland (Started at Barnsley).
Joe Morrell - Wales (Started at Barnsley).
Terry Devlin - Northern Ireland Under 21s (Came on at Barnsley).

So there you have it - two international call ups....

They can count up to five

Just incase any Barnsley fans are still claiming cheating....

1. (One). Paddy Lane - Northern Ireland, Full Squad.
2.(Two). Kusini Yengi - Australia, Full Squad.
3. (Three). Myles Peat-Harris - Jamaica under 23s.

All first team players for us at present.

The first two were expected hence why the game was going ahead. The third was unexpected. Hence the game being called off.

So, just like when the game at Oakwell was called off, no cheating. Not little old sorry Barnsley being picked on. No fielding ineligible players or making up calls ups.

Just a club exercising it's right to call a game off....
