Independent football regulator

Post by Pompey55 »

I think it's good news that finally the bill to set up an independent football regulator has been published and hope that with the current cross party support will come into law as soon as possible.
The behaviour of some Premier league teams last week walking out on the plans to fairly redistribute money throughout the league's is exactly the reason we need such action.
It's noticeable and welcome that 3 of our local MPs have supported this project putting aside party politics

It's been needed for ages when you look at the FPP rules and what a farce they are.

Completely agree.

The conduct of some Premier League clubs in walking out earlier this week was completely out of order. They will continue to employ expensive lawyers to dodge any consequences related to their their activities - Manchester City springs to mind.

Only government legislation will improve matters. But judging by the poor performance of some of the existing government regulators - Ofwat for example - even the regulator may not make any real difference.
