Oscars Smoshcars
Hmmmmm.
Argo.....really?
I mean, a decent flick and all that but the best of the year?
Christophe Waltz though....spot on.
DDL....haven't seen Lincoln and not really my gig so no argument there.
Zero Dark 30, haven't got around to that yet either.
But Django.....brilliant as all of Tarantinos flicks have been.
Conclusion: Who cares. But Argo aint all that.

My sister in law is a complete history buff and reads books and watches films/tv about anything historical. She fell asleep during Lincoln......... I'll stick with Django.

...and the Oscar for best summing up goes to....
"who cares...?"
Skyfall was the best movie I saw at the cinema last year. Mainly because it's the only one I saw at the cinema last year...
I did enjoy it though.
Been watching Chivalry and Betrayal on BBC 4 - Dr Ramirez; not a looker but the possessor of strangely seductive eyes. Some of the things they got up to in them days make James Bond look like a floppy wrist slap.
No doubt some of you were watching penguin shenanigans at the same time.

Django was the hands down best film of the year...well, of the shortlist anyway. Zero Dark was very good but a distant second. I would also put Beasts of the Southern Wild above Argo. And Life of Pi.
Waltz was also a deserving winner, although wasn't his perpetually-casual character a smidgen similar to his effort in Inglorious Basterds?....
Jennifer Lawrence has done herself no harm with her Oscar interviews. Dig out the YouTube of her interview being interrupted by a horny Jack Nicholson and also her press conference.

Argo is another example of the US re-writing history, in this Ben Affleck version the Brits are portrayed in a very bad light when actually in real life it was a Brit that stuck his neck on the line to help the Americans.
I hate the fact that Hollywood re-write history, once it's out there the true stories struggle to be told and the lies become the truth

I wonder what the American response would be if we pulled that type of stunt?...
