Pompey have exercised their right to extend Jed Wallace’s contract by a year.

The 19-year-old midfielder’s current deal was due to expire at the end of the current campaign.

He has scored six goals in 22 appearances for Pompey this term and earlier enjoyed a prolific spell at non-league Whitehawk.

Blues boss Guy Whittingham said: “We’ve taken up the option of an extra year and it’s great to have Jed here for at least another season.

“However, he’s an important player for us and we’ll be looking to negotiate a longer deal in due course.”

Can't we do a deal with all of our current players so they are all on 10 year contracts which can be torn up by the club at any time, thereby costing a club wishing to buy a player a lot more that it would if they were on a 12 month contract but leaving us with the option of disposing of a player if we need to without a 'storrie' clause.
