Awford gets the boot

Nick Awford has had his Pompey contract cancelled, The News understands.

It is also understood the midfielder has joined non-league neighbours Havant & Waterlooville until the end of the season.

The 19-year-old made his first-team debut as a substitute in Pompey’s 3-0 win over Sheffield United in April 2013.

Since then he has made four appearances, with these all coming this season.

His last game was last November in the Blues’ televised 3-0 defeat at Plymouth

As he's out of contract at the end of the season I'd say the only difference is if H&W baulked at his wages
