I beg to differ! I see us getting over this sticky patch and marching onwards and upwards. Class will out. PUPPompey Dave wrote:Fifth place now, four points away from an automatic promotion place. Re: Carlisle game
People were moaning that we weren't converting our possession into goals. Today we scored twice. Unfortunately we conceeded 2 poor goals meaning a draw instead of a win. That being said we did address the main concern most have been moaning about- we created chances and scored goals. If we keep that going and get back to our usual solid defence then we'll surely return to winning ways before too long.

Surely we all could see this happening - Sure , Its always painful when it happens like this but we only have ourselves to blame.
We are Poor at home and Yes ( as a lot of us predicted ) our away good fortune will eventually desert us .
Tuesday is a bigger game for us than it should be , York will have done their homework, our players will be nervous and Cooke will be tossing his coin for what formation he plays.
This is not that difficult a league but we are making a right Hash of it .

4 2 3 1. It was always going to be a bigger game than it should be because of the noises being made about our home form.POLPERO99 wrote:Surely we all could see this happening - Sure , Its always painful when it happens like this but we only have ourselves to blame.

Re: Carlisle game
But only 1 defeat in that time too. Going through an entire season without any bumps is pretty unlikely. I seem to remember even in the brilliant 02/03 year that Pompey had a run of 4 consecutive draws. Hopefully come May we'll all be able to look back at this period as just a bit of a blip.Pompey Dave wrote:And no wins in 5 games. Here comes AFC wrote:That's the excuse every gamePompey1985 wrote:No chance. Re: Carlisle game
We are conceeding less than 1 goal per game and scoring 1.4 goals a game even with our recent scoring troubles. That ratio is always going to return a decent point total and when we sort out our scoring problems the point return will only improve.

[Yoda voice] Panic we should not. [\Yoda voice]
This squad with this manager and we'll be fine.....and, of course, the squad may improve come January when Cook weeds out the unnecessary and brings in improvements....plus Roberts and Whatmough will be available for selection.
Nice to see our away form returning to normal - lion's share of possession plus scoring a couple of goals. You can't legislate for a dodgy pen and a super strike in the 95th minute so you just take it on the chin and go again.

We need to get Lavery and McNulty till the end of the season at least. Otherwise we will have to find our feet again in January.
If we continue to produce 15 shots a game we'll get more points than we drop. Funny really apprently 442 is the only way to create chances.

100% agree. Those two lads are key to our promotion push. Once they, and the rest of the team get to know each other, they will score a hat full. I have a sneaky feeling we may end up getting McNulty signing for us, especially if we look like going up. He has been on Cook's radar for a long time.Pompey1985 wrote:We need to get Lavery and McNulty till the end of the season at least. Otherwise we will have to find our feet again in January.

Re: Carlisle game
McNulty in particular looks a vg player. That was a helluva finish yesterday, absolutely smashed it. I like Lavery as well, good movement but not sure he's 100% suited to the one up top role. Hope McNulty is ok for tuesday.Selsey Bill wrote:100% agree. Those two lads are key to our promotion push. Once they, and the rest of the team get to know each other, they will score a hat full.
