I have had a good look at it again and the more I see it the more insane it appears. If someone like Stirling for England or Aguero for Man City had scored it the media would have gone hysterical. There are a number of pieces of sublime skill involved in it as I see it.

It started with Clarke gliding with the ball into space and then unleashing the most perfect long pass precisely over a defender's head and into Lowe's path on the edge of the penalty area. As it fell, Lowe brought it down in one movement using his toe and in doing so turned the defender and left himself free to shoot. He then takes a sight of goal, and seeing the keeper off his line and just three or four yards away, composes himself and exercises the most sublime 'golf chip' of a shot which dips over the keeper's head and drops gently into the back of the net.

The coolness, the composure, the execution, the skill. World-class. Soon to be repeated by Hawkins' penalty.

Totally agree. I've watched it over and over again - it is an amazing goal. As you say, if that had been a prem player, an England player, messi or ronaldo etc. the sporting press would have soiled their smalls and still be going on about it now.

Mind you, we don't want too many teams above us seeing it, so may be it's good it's not been made too public.

The best bit is where Lowe has chipped the goalkeeper, but no-one knows if it is going to drop in. Even Lowe stands for a moment waiting and hoping. Then...

When interviewed after the game, Jamal himself admitted that he wasn't sure whether or not it would drop under the bar when he first hit it. I'm not sure even the Pompey fans behind the goal could tell until it was about to cross the line as there was no reaction until it dropped in to the goal under the bar. Must have added £2m to his price tag.

I really liked Clarke' s part in the goal, sending the Sunderland player for a tea break before cutting back onto his left & flighting the ball into Lowe's path and the rest as they say is history.

In real time I thought that the ball had hit Jamal's hand when he cut inside the defender, and was going to be penalised for it. But it must have just been the angle I was watching from as on the replay isn't doesn't seem to be anywhere near his hand.

I too thought it hit his hand!

Still our 85k was better than both fa cup semi finals. Man city Brighton was only 75k Watford wolves was 80k
