Re: Kenny Get Ya Jacket
Cast your eyes down this list of Pompey managers over the last 20 years. Trying to ignore personalities, in how many cases have we liked their style of play? Is this independent of results? Where would Jackett sit in your rankings? Are our standards too high, or our priorities wrong? Even allowing for the shambolic higher management of the club, the list is not impressive, but I doubt it is much worse than for many other clubs.
I am sure that 2018-19 will be regarded as a success by the owners, and fulfil their requirements for the season. The owners seem committed to stability and slow-build, and Jackett's and the team's performances fit this model fine. I also think that for most supporters it would have been regarded as acceptable at the start of the season. To my mind, the problems have arisen due to the home performances, which is where we see most of the team and for many supporters the only place, and these have been very frustrating, especially once other teams realised that they just needed to thwart Lowe and Curtis and they could double-up on the wings as nothing was coming through the middle. Jackett's attempts to do something in January were poor, but I doubt better options were available. As others have said, we desperately needed/need a top No.10 regardless of who stays or goes. Overall, I see no reason why Jackett shouldn't get another year, and obvious faults notwithstanding I think he has earned it.

Some good points made there, penguin. I think one of the main reasons people feel a bit disgruntled was our flying start to the season which naturally raised expectations and caused us to expect a higher standard.Pompey Penguin wrote: ↑Sat May 18, 2019 1:29 pm Cast your eyes down this list of Pompey managers over the last 20 years. We slated the likes Paul Merson and Joey Barton for labelling us as average earlier in the season but it's turned out that they weren't far wrong .
As for other managers style of play I'd actually forgotten some of those even managed us .
I'd like to see us be a bit more solid , and have the ability to change tactics rather than just personnel when things aren't going well on the pitch

Re: Kenny Get Ya Jacket
The purchase of a strong but mobile centre forward (which KJ wanted last summer in Mo Eisa to be fair) and a proper number 10 who we can play through rather than bypass - and everything could look very different for next season.

And we improved by four places and 22 points on 2017-18. A 33% improvement in points; I think we would all be happy with that performance level in our jobs and expect to keep our post if not get promoted!
