Well at least tonight's result earned me a point in the La La League

Well it didn't work....BlueinPLtwenty wrote: ↑Tue Aug 20, 2019 10:23 pm the idea was to have three at the back and release the two full backs to be out and out wingers
What appeared obvious to me was Evans and Marquis was shattered, Evans should have been replaced with Cannon.

Re: The Doom & Gloom Cafe
That was intensely disappointing.
Having done well to come back from the early goal, and being ahead at half time despite being second best for large parts of the game, why on earth did we stop playing and go into our shells as soon as we went further ahead and they lost two players?
I think my son summed it up when he said that there seemed to be a lack of leadership and direction, both on and off the pitch, and it is probably best to leave it there before this turns into a rant.

You can change the players, the owners and the manager - but life as a Pompey fan never changes does it!

Re: The Doom & Gloom Cafe
I understand that we were trying to make the pitch bigger, but we're we really struggling with that? Harness and Curtis we're playing pretty well and wide for most of the second half and the full backs were pushing on.
Evans looked shattered and to a lesser extent so did Marquis. It was crying out for Andy Cannon to come on for Evans in a like for like switch (Jacketts MO when it comes to subs). As that was keeping the pitch big and keeping some legs closing them down at the back. The other change could have been Harrison for Marquis.
It wasn't all doom and gloom but that ending is unforgivable. The defence needed minutes together - I hope we can find someone to play Saturday so the defensive unit can get some more minutes together.

People moaned about Jackett bringing on Burgess but who looked more likely to score ? us or them? we were an offside flag away from losing to 9 men

You could argue that a lack of an offside flag prevented us from winning that gamePurbrook Chimes wrote: ↑Wed Aug 21, 2019 3:58 pm People moaned about Jackett bringing on Burgess but who looked more likely to score ? us or them? we were an offside flag away from losing to 9 men

And the penalty the Coventry fans seem to think we should have had early on.

Yep I said to my wife as soon as we went 3-1 up...if we were supporting another side I'd feel confident of 3 points here but this is Pompey and anything can happen....and it 'kin did !PakefieldBlue wrote: ↑Wed Aug 21, 2019 7:35 am You can change the players, the owners and the manager - but life as a Pompey fan never changes does it!

When they went down to 9 I said it will end 3 all or 5-2. Sadly it was the first not the latter.

Anyone watching the cricket right now? Seems like this is the appropriate place to be.

I jokingly predicted with my brothers, brother in law and sons on our cricket Whatsapp group first thing this morning that we would be 60-7 at lunchNew Forester wrote: ↑Fri Aug 23, 2019 12:21 pm Anyone watching the cricket right now? Seems like this is the appropriate place to be.

Fortunately, at least there are no convicts in this neck of the woods.
