Re: Wage Cap Proposals
It just means players either stay at championship clubs or go abroad.
Lower end championship players are on more than you can afford under the new proposals. McGeehan £6k a week - we simply cannot compete under these sanctions.
You could have players in non league earning more than players in league two... Or even league one.

Re: Wage Cap Proposals
It'll also hasten the Championship breaking away and becoming Premier League 2, with lower leagues in effect being cut adrift financially. It just doesn't make sense and the EFL are crazy to suggest it.
Hopefully the objections raised by the PFA yesterday will put a spanner in the works.

Let's hope so . I also don't think alot of people realise that the lower leagues will fall apart if clubs don't start getting matchday revenue again soon .PakefieldBlue wrote: ↑Fri Aug 07, 2020 7:53 am It'll also hasten the Championship breaking away and becoming Premier League 2, with lower leagues in effect being cut adrift financially. I can appreciate the current climate makes putting some sort of financial rules in place to protect clubs sound reasonable. I mean I can't count the number of times it's been mentioned on here recently about how many teams are potentially close to going out of business and the bubble being about to burst. Problem is in the long term I just can't see this doing anyone any good. As you mentioned it just widens the gap and puts L1 and L2 teams at a disadvantage.
If they want to bring in these sorts of rules it should be across the entirety of the leagues from top to bottom.
I do catch myself sometimes though and think maybe I only feel this strongly because I'm hoping we can take advantage of the current climate and see it as a, on paper at least and normal Kenny criticisms aside, easy season where spending a bit more money should see our chances of getting promoted increased significantly.
Here's a link to the PFA objections as well for others to read:
