How hard is it to stay in the championship?
Let’s say we do somehow miraculously get promoted through the play offs how much investment would need to be made to avoid coming right back down again?
Are the worst teams of the championship still better than most teams in league 1?

I think staying in the championship would be very difficult, but not impossible - I think there are are a growing number of teams in the championship who are really starting to struggle.

There's a huge discourse in the Championship between the teams that get relegated from the Prem. The parachute payments cause this divide. They need to stop in the name of fairness.

Re: How hard is it to stay in the championship?
Good question: I would be happy to see us in the playoffs this time - however unlikely. But I really don't think that we are ready for the Championship.
My reason is that the majority of the teams that have been relegated recently from the Championship are - on balance - amongst the better teams in L1. This suggests a quality gulf between L1 and the Championship.
We have some good players now. But it will be very difficult for us to fill the gaps just by recruiting in this summer's upcoming transfer window.
And our new manager is still learning.

Re: How hard is it to stay in the championship?
Just been having a look at this and historically about 80% of teams promoted to the Championship survive their first season (over the last 15/20 years).
But in more recent seasons, at least one of the promoted sides has come back down (but normally only one). And as Milton End pointed out, a lot of teams coming down from the Championship are immediate contenders for a return. This suggests that the gap between the two leagues is getting bigger but that it's definitely not insurmountable.
Don't think we're really ready either but sometimes you've just got to grab the chance if it comes along and go with it.
Play-offs are still a long shot but if we did sneak in there on a run of good form, we might even win a play-off game
