Re: Europa Conference League Final
It’s a contest for low ranked EUFA nations clubs plus those eliminated form the early stages of the Europa league and gets access to the next season’s Europa league
So West Ham qualified for it be being a loser in the early stages of the Europa league so nothing really to be that proud about you qualify because your crap in a better competition

Blimey, UEFA will do anything to make an extra couple of bob. Perhaps next year we'll have a lower level competition for those who are knock out of this one.Pompey55 wrote: ↑Wed Jun 07, 2023 1:01 pmIt’s a contest for low ranked EUFA nations clubs plus those eliminated form the early stages of the Europa league and gets access to the next season’s Europa league

To think we made it to an FA Cup final in 2010 but were denied a place in the Europa is galling.

Re: Europa Conference League Final
That's not quite right - West Ham qualified directly for the Conference League playoffs by finishing 7th in the Premier League last season (Villa have done the same this year). They didn't play in the Europa League this season.Pompey55 wrote: ↑Wed Jun 07, 2023 1:01 pmIt’s a contest for low ranked EUFA nations clubs plus those eliminated form the early stages of the Europa league and gets access to the next season’s Europa league

Yes West Ham did qualify by finishing 7th because that place according to premier league website should go to EFL cup winners unless they qualified for one of the other 2 EUFA competitions
Still think it’s a third rate tournament especially if you look at who played in the early rounds
on a par in my opinion with the FA trophy

Re: Europa Conference League Final
That decision was bang out of order. If Liverpool had gone into admin, which looked likely at one stage, there's no way they would have been denied entry into European competition had they qualified for it. In fact they did...at our bleeding expense!Dinksy wrote: ↑Wed Jun 07, 2023 1:13 pmBlimey, UEFA will do anything to make an extra couple of bob. Re: Europa Conference League Final
I'm not particularly anti the competition but it's hilarious and annoying at the same time. The BBC call it a major competition when it's only 2 years old and the attendance was 17,363! Got to hype it up. Create a multi country tournament and people instantly see glamour! The standard of some of the games was terrible - league 1 and 2 levels. But it's European football under the lights so big up the romance.
Entertaining game tonight though and I'm pleased for Moyes.

Super Matt Macey in goal...

Plus it’s been all over their main news programmes all day
FFS it’s a third rate trophy which realistically only the West Ham fans give a toss about
