Di'Shon Bernard not retained by Man Utd: Now a Free Agent
https://www.portsmouth.co.uk/sport/foot ... se-4178744
Pompey have to be all over this surely. Man Utd have declined to offer Di'Shon a new contract (or exercised his option), effectively releasing him and making him available on a free transfer this summer.
I suspect Pompey would have paid a fee of circa £100k to sign him so to get him on a free should make Pompey excited.
Getting this deal done for Bernard should be a clear sign to the Supporters that Pompey are serious about building a young, talented team with the ability to get promotion. If another L1 team beats them to his signature this would equally be a bad sign
Transfer window opens Wednesday 14th. Get it done Pompey!

Re: Di'Shon Bernard not retained by Man Utd: Now a Free Agent
very true. I suspect he wants to be playing regularly week in, week out now in his career at the highest level possible.
Pompey can offer him the playing time: as first choice right sided centre half. Pompey should at least be a top 10 in L1 next season. So the question becomes whether another team; likely to finish higher up in the league structure next season than Pompey - is willing to offer him first choice football too?

Yes, but don't forget there are reasons outside football (family or area for example) that can contribute to a move happening or not. I hope he does come here but if doesn't then c'est la vie.

I'd not be surprised if he has offers from the championship, will be interesting to see if we can get a deal done, it's not just about money we can offer him other things.

absolutely, at least the player had a few months at Pompey before he became a free agent. A 'try before you buy' period for both parties.NSRailings wrote: ↑Mon Jun 12, 2023 11:58 am Yes, but don't forget there are reasons outside football (family or area for example) that can contribute to a move happening or not. He clearly is wanted by the manager and football director so lets see what happens.

Before fans start knocking the club if we don't sign him (both of which are highly likely) we need to remember that he has a massive say in this and surely someone leaving Man Utd will be aiming higher than L1? That said, I'd be delighted if we could sign him. Alongside Towler, they'd make a great CB pairing.

I hope the relationship he’s got with JM and our club will help in to decide on us. Not to mention the lovely part of the country we are situated
