Attacking Midfielder Signing Imminent : Eisner
Michael Eisner has confirmed that Pompey will make the 13th signing of this transfer window and that the recruitment team have got the "signing they wanted"
Read into that what you will .....is that Tino Anjorin from Chelsea?or is he referring to the position of attacking midfield more generally?
Anyway, Eisner said the transfer (loan) is all agreed and the player will be unveiled either today (Sunday) or tomorrow (Monday) at the latest.

Fingers crossed. There were enough signs yesterday of a decent team if we can get the midfield right.
Super Matt Macey in goal...

Just hope it’s not an anticlimax when we see who it is

I'd say there is a 99.99999999% chance you won't be happy.Pompey55 wrote: ↑Sun Aug 06, 2023 2:32 pmAnd play 2 up front if it’s not an 8/10NSRailings wrote: ↑Sun Aug 06, 2023 2:29 pm Fingers crossed. There were enough signs yesterday of a decent team if we can get the midfield right.

Tino Anjorin is the no.1 target but I understand that Jensen Weir on loan from Brighton for the season is the 2nd choice.
Jensen Weir is 21yo and had ten goals and five assists for Morecombe in L1 last season
I'd take either frankly on loan for a season.

Actually, and in fairness to P55, the poster was reasonably supportive of Weir on another thread.
Personally, I think that the introduction of Saydee yesterday shows very clearly that we badly need some more beef and/or creativity further up the pitch.
Milton End is entering a new era with Tornante

A lot of our fans are not happy with our midfield trio Pack they say is too slow Lowery seems in effective in terms of threatening goals and Morrell is a red card waiting to happen. Above all else this combination is not working so hopefully the new edition will take over from the need for Lowery and we we will see a better functioning midfield ?

Re: Attacking Midfielder Signing Imminent : Eisner
at home I would like to see one holding midfield player (Pack or Stevenson) and then Devlin as a box-to-box type midfielder as the 8 who is not afraid to get ahead of the ball and an attacking midfielder as a 10 who can look to link up play and play in the wide attackers, Bishop or Devlin to get a shot on target.
Playing at home with effectively three players who don't feel comfortable running beyond the ball is not helping our creativity.

Re: Attacking Midfielder Signing Imminent : Eisner
Just to be totally negative again if Stevenson was considered to be more than simply squad player why was he not even on the bench
Thought I would just throw that in to amuse certain posters as I did say when we signed him he was a waste of space in a moment of frustration at our recruitment before they remind me of it

I hope Mous is on your same wave length and is not afraid to try this formation at home. Especially when the opposition nick a goal and then sit backJack_Tinn wrote: ↑Sun Aug 06, 2023 8:05 pm at home I would like to see one holding midfield player (Pack or Stevenson) and then Devlin as a box-to-box type midfielder as the 8 who is not afraid to get ahead of the ball and an attacking midfielder as a 10 who can look to link up play and play in the wide attackers, Bishop or Devlin to get a shot on target.

I'd also expect to see him play on Tuesday instead of Pack.Pompey1984+1 wrote: ↑Sun Aug 06, 2023 8:39 pmBecause football is a squad game. Re: Attacking Midfielder Signing Imminent : Eisner
I’d fully expect not only him but other fringe players to get time on Tuesday and look forward to watching them in that cow shed of a ground but my point was that we have signed pretty much like for like replacements for those who left and only marginally improved the squadJack_Tinn wrote: ↑Sun Aug 06, 2023 8:41 pmI'd also expect to see him play on Tuesday instead of Pack.Pompey1984+1 wrote: ↑Sun Aug 06, 2023 8:39 pmBecause football is a squad game. And in that vein I really hope yesterday was just an off day for Scully and Whyte as they were totally ineffective otherwise that marginal improvement is not so obvious
