Pompey Team v Orient
This is my Pompey Team pick based on the last couple of games I am leaving Whyte as a sub Skully switches over Towler sub because I believe we have stronger candidates in the squad therefore.
Norris
Rafferty Poole Raggett Ogilvie
Pack Morrell
Skully Saydee Bishop Sparke
Subs Schofield, Towler, Yengi, Whyte, Devlin, Swanson

Not based on comments from Moushino earlier this week he was clear Robertson will be eased in so very unlikely to start

I wouldn’t bother moving Scully just replace him with Sparkes and replace Whyte with Kamara who made our second and win the penalty on Tuesdayjam tomorrow wrote: ↑Fri Aug 11, 2023 11:37 am This is my Pompey Team pick based on the last couple of games I am leaving Whyte as a sub Skully switches over Towler sub because I believe we have stronger candidates in the squad therefore.

I’d agree with Raggett May not be the most cultured defender but does defend well and is a threat at set pieces in the air
Towler sometimes gets bullied by experienced forwards such as Pigott
Realistically both Whyte and Scully will start and I’d guess a 4-2-3-1 with Saydee in the middle of the 3
So far neither Whyte or Scully have impressed in my view

Re: Pompey Team v Orient
I agree re Whyte get the feeling this was JM’s transfer pick based on his Oxford time I still think he will come good as well as Skully but they haven’t settled in well yet. As much as I like Yengi Kamara and Robertson I think Mous will be a bit more defensive away from homePompey55 wrote: ↑Fri Aug 11, 2023 1:38 pmI wouldn’t bother moving Scully just replace him with Sparkes and replace Whyte with Kamara who made our second and win the penalty on Tuesdayjam tomorrow wrote: ↑Fri Aug 11, 2023 11:37 am This is my Pompey Team pick based on the last couple of games I am leaving Whyte as a sub Skully switches over Towler sub because I believe we have stronger candidates in the squad therefore.

Re: Pompey Team v Orient
I’m sure they will Bill nice team but can’t trust Sparkes as a defensive back he needs Ogilvie behind him that team looks Gung-Ho

Re: Pompey Team v Orient
It is exactly that. That's how I managed my son's team - as long as we score more goals than the opposition we will win lol

Re: Pompey Team v Orient
My team would be:
Norris
Rafferty Poole Shaughnessy Ogilvie
Pack Morrell
Saydee
Kamara Bishop Scully
Subs Schofield, Towler, Yengi, Whyte, Stevenson, Sparkes, Robertson
I have gone with Shaughnessy but could equally have gone with Raggett or even Towler to be fair. I suspect Shaughnessy or Raggett will play to give some height in defence given that Orient have Piggott in their team.
Lowery is out and I think Saydee starts to link up play and Robertson is on the bench whilst he builds up fitness and understanding. Again I could have gone the other way around and brought on Saydee on 60mins for Robertson to bully a tiring defence. Either way around works for me. Kamara is in form on the right side over Whyte who is out of form. Stevenson is on the bench over Devlin as the more ready replacement for Pack or Morrell.
Raggett, Devlin and Swanson unlucky to be outside of the match squad. Lowery out injured and Hume being ushered to the exit. This is the strength in depth that Pompey have accumulated this off-season.
