Portsmouth in Europe

Post by Sam_Brown »

Saw this pop up on my feed this morning. Memories to our time in the Europa League. Still a shame we didn't manage to beat AC Milan but I think we put on a good showing.

One of my best nights ever. We were right behind the Milton End goal when Ronaldhino scored the free kick. What a night at FP!

That AC Milan game was some game with it going into folklore for the amazing atmosphere that was created. It made an impression beyond the Portsmouth area and put the Pompey crowd in an iconic place. There is no place like Fratton Park in an evening game with the Pompey crowd at full throttle.

I hope we all live long enough to experience this again I would die a happy man.

One of my favourite nights down Fratton Park. Ronaldinho took the freekick in front of where i was seated in the north stand. I knew as soon as he stood over the ball it was going in the back of the net. b'stard

Blimey, 15 yrs ago. Remember it like it was yesterday. AC Milan was a top night. Atmosphere incredible. I remember we had a few injuries but those that came in like Richard Hughes rose to the task magnificently. Amazing night.

I always liked Hughes. I was always disappointed he didn't get more of a run in the first team.
