I believe they are going to have to play Sat-Tue-Sat every week now until the end of the season. Pompey have to go to Bolton yet and Bolton have to play at Derby and they finish the season at Peterborough.

Whilst i wish it was true it isn't. They now have 2 games in hand on us. That doesn't equate to having to play Sat/Tuesday/Sat until the end of the season.

Still 7 clear and our two closest rivals, before kick off tonight, have one fewer games in hand.

I am taking nothing for granted, and this post was started after only 9 games, but, hey, we are still 'Top of the League!'

Enjoy!!!!!!

Last night means we can't be caught by 4 points. There are probably more complicated fixture maths but I can't work it out, however I read we need 6 more wins to go up after the Charlton game.

My reading is that all 3 of the others need to win 2 more games than us in total rather than a specific numbers of wins for us

So as part of this thread, let's rule out the teams that cannot, or without s freakish set of results won't, finish above us until there is only 1, or none remaining.

I'll start by ruling out all those below Blackpool.

Still top of the pile but we do have some mighty difficult games coming up. If offered 15 points from our last 10 matches, I'd take them for sure. The chasing pack will drop points and there are a fair number of teams in the top 8 facing each other in the run in so hopefully a points haul of 90+ will be good enough to see us promoted.

So we continue, no side in the top seven have beaten us, we still have to play four of them. Two at home two away Barnsley are the biggest threat they have the equal best (with us) away record but have lost 5 games at home and only one away. However we have the best home record, their only away defeat was at Derby. It is about what happens on the day. Will be happy with a point at Blackpool next saturday!

not bad for a bunch of second rate league 2 players, with an unconvincing rookie manager, as someone on here said once, "this squad will never get us promoted...FACT"
I am particularly impressed with the fewest goals conceded, to manage that with apparently 2 of the biggest donkeys in the league playing in the back 4, its quite miraculous really :thumb

all tongue in cheek before anyone takes offence

It makes you wonder, would we have been better without the injuries?!
