I saw him play several times. Truly deserves the accolades. RIP.

Very very sad. I was lucky enough to have seen him play a few times including two matches in the World Cup at Wembley. A true legend RIP Bob condolences to his Family & Friends

Rest in peace Sir Bobby. Probably one of the best footballing role models of all time. Condolences to his family and friends.

RIP Sir Bob, I too was lucky enough to see him play, live. Two matches at the `66 World Cup. Schools were allocated tickets to the early rounds. Along with a coach load from Southern Grammar we went to the games with France & Uruguay. When I left school, I worked in Manchester 1969/70 and although I worked on saturdays there were plenty of midweek matches. In those days you could catch a bus from Piccadilly to Old Trafford and pay your four or five shillings to get into the Ground! Those were the days.

It’s impossible to be definitive and say he was the best ever England player but can anyone name a better one?

No. If you consider that Sir Bobby Charlton as a player won the League, the European Cup and World Cup....oh and the Balloon d'or. There simply isn't another English player that has a resume like that.
