Slow news day?

Reporting in this article really is crap.

“A thrilling front line of Peter Crouch and Jermain Defoe won at Wembley ”

Neither players played in that game! Had we even signed them at that point?

I thought we had signed Defoe in the January window but he was cup tied so could not play in our cup run

The other issue with this article is that the project never even got to the stage of applying for planning permission (which it never would have got approval)
You can take the man out of Pompey
But you can`t take Pompey out of the man

Yes you are right. I looked it up. We signed Defoe in January and he was cup tied. We then signed crouch that following summer.

The article definitely got the Wembley line up wrong. Defoe had signed but ineligible to play while Crouch came the following season. We did flirt with dropping out of the league but Andy Awford's all out attack policy meant we won enough points to keep us up. As for the stadium I am not sure how far down the line we had got with that. I do remember the eye watering amount they spent on drawing up the plans and other expenses. I seem to remember that the stadium scheme was deemed too expensive, although I must admit I thought it was very exciting and ambitious.

As far as I can see the reporter has got the FA Cup winning team wrong but, if anything, exaggerated some of the rest.
