Fleetwood

Post by Mickemo »

Top vs near bottom today - on paper it should be a comfortable afternoon BUT we know all too well Football doesn’t play out that way.

I’m going for a 2-0 win (but it will a tough match)

Team sheet thoughts?

This has all the hallmarks of a potential banana skin. It would be lovely to win by a large margin, and goal difference could be vital at the end of the season, but otherwise I hope that we have patience, get the 3 points somehow and move on.

I sometimes hate football. In particular when up for promotion or threatened with relegation. As I said in other post I’d love to end my days with Pompey in mid table - in the Premiership.

I thought Fleetwood fully deserved their draw and, as BlueinPLtwenty said, they could have won it. Without some good defending by Rafferty, and later by Sparkes, plus some poor decisions by Fleetwood forwards they could have grabbed a couple of goals lead before halftime. I didn't get the substations though, especially with Kamara going off and Scully coming on. I thought if Mousinho was going to change the forward play it would have been better for Yengi to come on with Bishop. Kamara was causing the Fleetwood defence problems and looked more likely than anyone to make things happen. But Fleetwood had real pace and it shows how that can be used effectively. My MoM was Rafferty while Bishop, Sparkes & Pack had decent games. Robertson is going through a bit of a dip at the moment but still remains our most creative player in midfield. I think Pompey were the better team but only managing one shot (the penalty) on target is pretty poor. We didn't look like a promotion team today and Fleetwood didn't look like a relegation team.

It`s misleading! Kamara went off dabbing his nose which was bleeding. We did hit the post and Kamara had a shot cleared off the line and we had several shots that were goalwards but blocked so the stats were a little untrue!

Sounded like Bishop ended up in his usual battle with the referee yesterday.

Was one of those days, but I think it was the first time Mous seemed very dissapointed in the players in his post match interview, even against Blackpool he seemed fairly pragmatic about it.
