Re: St Evenage
Tough match could go either way, need the 12th Man to get on top of Stevenage

Re: St Evenage
High tempo game. Can imagine Saydee coming on and causing problems later.

Re: St Evenage
Hopefully just precautionary as he had a kung fu tackle to the face. 7 yellow cards and 2 reds. Not as bad as the previous game but Stevenage sure like to wind up the opposition.phat_chris wrote: ↑Mon Jan 01, 2024 5:06 pm 2-1 FT. Saydee off injured at the end. Hope it's not too bad.
Loads of effort from us and some good football that was sometimes over ambitious. At least 6 back heels But a good win and the transfer window is open. Robertson back on form. Pack and Morrell very good. Kamara full of potential and should've had a goal. Sparkes good in defence.
Norris booked for time wasting then risked another booking for wasting more time. Followed by a terrible goal kick that Mousinho got wound up about. But overall he had a good game, just needs to grow up a bit.

Re: St Evenage
Thanks f**k for that!! Stevenage are a horrible side. Deserved red cards, terrible challenge by N Thompson, players should have words with him. We fell into the trap of playing the way Stevenage wanted us to in the second half, should have played our football instead of clearing it up the pitch time after time. Having said that Kamara missed 3 one on ones.

Re: Stevenage
This performance was light years ahead of the Exeter one on friday. Onward and upwards to Cheltenham

Re: St Evenage
You can see why Stevenage are high in the table. Obviously I am glad we won, which I think we deserved for our first half performance, but also glad Stevenage didn't get anything. I think they are a mirror image of their manager, nasty. I think the very poor referee let them off the hook by not sending a couple of their players earlier, especially the Thompsons. I think the ref lost control and I couldn't believe some of the decisions he made or more to the point he didn't make. What did impress me about Stevenage was the speed in which they got forward in contrast to our lumbering style .
Any way back to Pompey and I think that the first half suggested that this blip is being left behind. I think they played some lovely football at times which is wasted in some periods where the ball goes backwards far too often. I just wish that they would take a chance sometimes and get the ball forward much sooner and quicker. I just don't get why if we have a free kick in our half it nearly always goes back to our keeper. Nevertheless they did play some really good football at times, especially in the first half, and we should never have been in the position of holding on. Kamara should have had a hat trick for his one on ones and Stevenage should have been down to 9 men during the second half.

I'd call their style classic hoofball!Blue Walter wrote: ↑Mon Jan 01, 2024 6:34 pm What did impress me about Stevenage was the speed in which they got forward in contrast to our lumbering style.

Re: St Evenage
Really important win against an uncompromising side that is in the top seven,
The tackle/assault on Saydee was ridiculous - Nathan Thompson was already on a yellow - and even their manager accepted that the challenge deserved the straight red card it received. The challenge though is indicative of the 'commitment' Stevenage show week in and week out.
Pompey have now finished playing Stevenage for the season (and Bristol Rovers too) and I am glad that is the case. Good to have those games behind us
