I can just imagine the reaction if we paid a reported £250k for a player and then loaned them back to their previous club

For what it's worth, he looked pretty decent in a couple of their FA Cup games but I can't really say any more than that. Was playing at the third step of non-league football last season for AFC Sudbury so Aldershot have done some good business there.

They have paid £300k for a loan, and are signing him on a free in the summer.

They aren't signing him permanently now, as that would have meant selling a player now to meet their financial obligations set out by the football league.

Personally I'm not convinced he's championship material if they do go up either.
