Pompey Promotion Odds

Post by SportMouth »

I checked online..Pompey are priced between 1/14 and 1/25 to get promoted.
This seems pretty generous since we still have tough games ahead.
If wheels DO come off it's quite possible we drop down to third and
end up in lottery of play offs...where anything can happen.
Not being negative..just surprised at how bookies are taking promotion
for granted. I think we're 1/2 to win league.

There's a reason why bookies make so much money. They use advanced statistical analysis, weighted to make them the most money. They don't just pick random odds out of their ****.

I know that...I also know they can get things horribly wrong.
Cricket T20. England women v Sri Lanka.......Sri Lanks were 10/1 to win...despite having thrashed England previously and England having
a depleted batting line up. Stuck a tenner on Sri Lanka and won. I remember Pompey playing Sheff Weds at Fratton..Weds were rock bottom..we were flying. Weds were quoted at 6/1 to win. I know Pompey so...found a bookie where my face wasn't known and stuck £10 on Weds...bet won...am ashamed to say!

You appear to be contradicting yourself.

I don't see the contradiction,,,or rather,,,I do!
What I meant was to bet AGAINST them getting promotion!
Yes....read at face value it does seem an odd thing to say!
Parsimonious rather than generous! Apologies.

Worth bearing in minds the odds reflect money put down so 1/25 means they simply don’t want people putting money on us anymore!

Yeah...I get that Sam. I think it's a slightly negative move though...try and sucker some negative souls
like me into wagering a tenner on us blowing it at this late stage. Nobody is going to punt with odds
that silly.....I...do understand.
