Re: Interview with the Eisners...
Having the set up we have at Portsmouth seems to be the right approach where no-one has overall control, like in the Ferguson era at United or even Redknapp at Pompey. I wasn't aware that it was like that under Redknapp. But it makes sense to me that you have someone with overall responsibility for...

Re: Interview with the Eisners...
This last summer wasn't funded by sales, although the article shows that seven clubs had bigger budgets. It would be interesting to see who those clubs were and how they fared. At best they yielded 5 less points than us! I have managed to work out that they got less than us but, nevertheless, I wou...

Re: Interview with the Eisners...
Yes, this is a really interesting article covering the philosophy of how the Eisner's approach business. The article is not particularly news to us as it was how the Eisner's explained how they would approach ownership of our club on the outset. However, it does graphically lay out just what they ha...

Re: Staying at the club
I am intrigued by the club not taking up the options on both Morrell & Swanson. I would assume that not taking the options up make both players free agents as it stands. This means we run the risk of losing them if they get a better offer. I wonder whether the club want to tie them down to a lo...

Re: Who stays and who goes?
This is the stage where loyalty and good will goes out the window to a certain degree. Clubs that get promoted will generally need to upgrade their playing staff. Some players that were celebrating with supporters will now be told that they are no longer required. Looking at Jam's list shows that qu...

It was 1962, I do beg your pardon.BlueinPLtwenty wrote: ↑Tue Apr 30, 2024 6:08 amDo you mean 1962 or 1983?Blue Walter wrote: ↑Mon Apr 22, 2024 7:17 am
Absolutely agree with this. My first flush of success was in 1963 with the old Third Division Championship. That particular success turned me from a Portsmouth spectator into a Portsmouth fan.

Re: Not the top 20 League one
I don't disagree with you Mr 55 and I did realise your parenting comment was tongue in cheek. Both my other granddaughters come with me to Fratton Park when they can and love the experience. Their father is an Aston Villa fan but, although he was born in Gosport, his family for generations came from...

Re: Not the top 20 League one
I know we have lost support to Southampton in my area because Saints were a Premiership team because 'we were cack'. Be great if we could turn that around I put that down to poor parenting and any such parents should be made to take a education course at 1500 every alternate Saturday at Fratton Par...

Re: Not the top 20 League one
The Portsmouth catchment area should surely in theory put us either in mid Premiership or a regular place in the Championship play offs. But in reality there are many examples of population size not being correlated to a particular league. How on earth are Bradford in League2 or say, Burnley (not f...

Re: Not the top 20 League one
I suppose the size of support goes to determining where a clubs natural fit in the football pyramid. In the old 1st Division when we won the league title they would pack as many people as possible into grounds. Fratton Park would host 40-50000 crowds which would have made them a reasonably sized top...

Re: crowds come out to honour champions
I went. It was lovely to see so many people in a good mood. It is a shame that the loudspeaker system wasn't up to the job as it difficult to hear what the speakers were saying. But the main thing was to see people celebrating promotion with the teams.

Re: Lincoln City
Trust JM to throw a curved ball be interesting to see how this team shapes up with two key players missing. Pack and Rags absence leaves a big hole but in exchange we’ve got MPH and Tino playing together.Towler has a chance to prove himself. Not sure whether we should call this a weakened team but ...

Re: Lincoln City
That is not our strongest team available which questions the integrity quote, in my opinion. If there was nothing on the game for either team I would have thought that it was a reasonable shout to give some players a run out. This game means so much to Lincoln and also several other clubs. I have t...

Re: Lincoln City
Apparently we are playing 4 at the back when defending and then Sparkes pushes forward when we attack. Sounds like we are mostly on top but second half they have nothing to lose so will throw the kitchen sink at us I think we are the better side and playing some good football but not carving out re...
