Re: D-Day Celebrations

Let’s hope we never have to find out. A visit toYpres and the Somme is an unforgettable experience. I found standing at Thiepval looking at the thousands of names of the lost both humbling and heartbreaking. On a lighter note, my Grandad, a Jutland veteran, was also at D day on board ship. When the ...

Re: D-Day Celebrations

What a brilliant post BW. Well balanced and full of interesting stuff. The radar station story was new to me and I’ve no doubt there are similar tales of sacrifices made to preserve spy networks. It must make you think twice if you and yours are part of the ‘sacrifice’. My limited experience of that...

Echo that thought.

It’s a tough environment in professional sport.

He has handled himself with class. Just as it should be says I.

I hope he prospers.

Re: Not the top 20 League one

That’s some coincidence. I was only seven . The reason to mention it was the thought that one’s first experience probably has a major bearing on what you view as the natural order of things which, as you mention, is a pretty subjective matter anyway. If we’d gone the previous season would we have be...

Re: Not the top 20 League one

Interesting that you see Plymouth as a natural third tier club. I see Pompey as a natural second league side. My first Fratton game was in October 1959 in what was then the Second Division ( a 2 2 draw against Charlton by the way). So I see next season sort of as business back to normal and a bit of...

Re: Lincoln City

Well done Mousinho. It looked a fairly dodgy selection to me and I feared we might end on a disrespectful whimper.

What do I know! As ever, we’ll done Pompey.

Re: Top of the League.

WE WON THE LEAGUE.

In the future when anyone looks at the tables from the past, 2023 24 won’t have an asterisk next to it.

WE WON THE LEAGUE WE WERE IN. COMFORTABLY.

END OF.

Re: Will We Get The Job Done?

A very accurate and insightful article in my view.

In part that opinion may be because it chimes very closely with my view of the way the last 18 months have gone.

Re: Looking ahead to the Championship

I was happy in the end last season that we didn’t make the playoffs so that next season planning started early. Recruit early and well , pre -season with most of the squad in place means a smooth start in August. I have been very impressed that the whole setup at Fratton looks very professional. The...

Key thing today was not to lose. That could have been a tipping point.

This is a great result in the circumstances.

Just want it done now.
