Re: First job/ Last or current Job
First job was with Barclays Bank as a clerk in the Woking branch, pushed into it by my parents and hated almost every minute of the six months I did. Currently I'm a train guard for South Western Railway based at Fratton and thoroughly enjoy it, it's the job I always wanted to do when I was a child ...

Re: Name that ship .
Trainy McTrainface was my doing, it was on the 0729 frpm Portsmouth Harbour-Waterloo on Tuesday morning and was meant as a way of raising a smile or two on the commute to London but it seems to have taken on a life of it's own since it was picked up by the Torygraph! My 8yo thought it was hilarious...

Re: Back from the Ipswich game
For some it never went away, I had to call the police to my train this evening as a group of fans returning from Ipswich started fighting, messing about with a fire extinguisher and interfering with safety equipment, meanwhile everybody else on the train gets delayed while we dealt with them. Having...

Re: Woman buys ticket for train
There's lots of stations like that, Teeside Airport is another one, as is Polesworth which is served only by a replacement bus once a week as it costs more to go through the closure procedure than to operate one train a week. Additionally HM The Queen is sometimes seen on Waterloo-Portsmouth trains ...

Re: Pompey Yeovil
We improved after half time when Stockley came on and despite Yeovil never really being a threat it was disappointing to see the stats show that out of 13 shots only two were on target. We were the better team by far and we will play worse and win this season but it's becoming common for teams to co...

Re: 35mm Negative Scanners
I bought a Nikon Coolscan IV around ten years ago and it has performed faultlessly since then, of course results will be dependent on the condition of the negatives but this is one from a cheap 1980s Dixons point and shoot camera: https://www.flickr.com/photos/40172673@N03/11321435226/in/photolist-d...

Re: Fratton Park & Wolves away in 1991, pictures
After a bit of looking I found this video on Youtube that gives a panorama of Fratton Park in 1980 including the Fratton End when it still had two tiers: Also I just added pictures from a friendly at Dorchester, I think their ground was b...

Fratton Park & Wolves away in 1991, pictures
Thought these may be of interest, firstly some pictures looking out from the south stand during a reserve game against Arsenal in 1991: http://www.flickr.com/photos/40172673@N03/sets/72157638572753923/ Also a set of pictures from Wolves away a few days later, Tony Barton's final game and the last ga...

Re: FA Cup Final
The last connection from Wembley to Wigan was at 1958, it's a 20 minute walk from the stadium to Wembley Central station and in addition to this there was a queueing system in place at the station which can mean a wait of up to 30 minutes. Wigan fans had no chance of getting a train home after the g...

This makes me so proud of our club!
Great marketing, but the message applies to 95% of clubs.

Re: Monday Moan
People who block the door by trying to get on the metro before everyone has got off. Particularly when they barge on the train before I've got off, I can't release the the other doors on the train until I've got my feet on the platform so they're holding up everyone else on the train with their sel...
