Re: Ipswich game

Let's hope also that we get a better ref than this one. He was random to the point of being insane. And he had the yellow card out on 12 occasions, including twice to coaching staff, plus the red for Chambers' 2 yellows. It's true that some of those bookings were deserved, but some were clearly not....

It'll probably be a goalless draw then!
Thinking about it, I'd probably settle for that.

Re: Jackett is here for the duration

This is completely irrelevant, but lightning frequently strikes the same place on multiple occasions. Whatever attracted the first strike is likely to attract further strikes. That's not to say we'll be promoted this season though!

Re: Jackett is here for the duration

This is completely consistent with what he said when he was pitching to buy the club.

Getting to tonight's match

I had this by email from the leader of the city council. It looks quite useful as it includes details of some road closures: The police have notified me of their plans for the Portsmouth v Southampton game tonight. They expect it to be an exciting and emotive match for many supporters and residents ...

Re: Centre backs

Agreed Ragget is poor so far, even giving away the goal to Norwich U21s in the Leasing.com cup. Downing is Clarke's replacement but sadly is nowhere near his quality. Burgess is far and away our best centre back at present and that does not bode well for this season.

Re: Let's all laugh at...

I put exactly that point to a guy from N Ireland some years ago and his reply was "You just don't get it, do you?"

So, now I do get it and I'm laughing with the Kid.

Re: Crawley

I thought Bass made 2 decent saves. Also, Bolton played pretty well for 90+ minutes, although he did look knackered after 75 of them. He's defensively sound and I think he'll be good going forward. Harrison looked strong and fast, which greatly pleased me as I didn't think he did too well on Saturda...

I saw it on the big screen as I walked up Wembley Way (which I think might actually be called Olympic Way, but you know where I mean).

Re: Saturday...

It all depends on who's fit, of course, but I'm expecting: Hawkins Curtis Bogle Lowe Morris Naylor Brown Clarke Whatmough Thompson McGillvray I'd expect the 3 newest signings to be on the bench and probably get some time on the pitch if circumstances allow.

Re: James Vaughan

Looks like a bit of mischief to me. PFC was added to his (considerable) list of clubs just before 10am today but it was edited out at 10.10. SInce then his middle name has been changed to Pompey. Someone's messing about!

Re: FA Cup 4th Round

That is a good point. I can't see anything wrong with the old system - a booking is a booking wherever it comes from and when you've got 5 you miss the next match, whatever that match is.

Re: FA Cup 4th Round

Pompey v. QPR. Got to believe that is winnable. Possibly but without Jamal Lowe who is not allowed to play in this next Cup match? I'm happy enough with this draw. I'd have preferred an awayday in Manchester or North London but this is winnable, and if we don't win it, it's no disgrace - I think QP...
